Woodland Garden Design in Ascot:
A Family Space With Water
Client Brief and Design Approach
Set within a woodland edge, this large family garden in Ascot was designed to feel immersive, elegant and connected to nature. The brief was to create a garden that complemented the architecture of the house while delivering spaces for entertaining, relaxing, and growing.
The design includes striking reflective water features near the house and entertaining areas, providing calm focal points that mirror the surrounding trees and sky. A meandering path guides you from the house through a woodland-fringe planting scheme, under formal beech hedging, and into a more productive area with a Victorian-style greenhouse, raised beds and space to grow.
The design goals included:
-
Reflective water features to anchor the garden’s entertaining areas
-
A woodland-inspired planting palette for softness and seasonality
-
Formal structure provided by clipped beech hedging
-
A productive garden with raised beds and greenhouse
-
A flowing layout with a natural transition between zones
OB Garden Design approached this space by balancing structure with softness, using water, planting and material changes to guide movement and atmosphere throughout the garden. The result is a layered, functional space that feels private, elegant and rooted in its setting.
