Family-Friendly Open Lawn Garden in Kent
This family garden in Kent was the final piece in a beautiful renovation project. With the home now fully extended and updated, the garden was ready for a redesign to match. The brief was to create a welcoming and family-friendly outdoor space with zones for play, relaxing, and spending time together.
The clients wanted a garden that could accommodate a trampoline and football games, without compromising on visual appeal. A secondary seating area was also requested - a more private corner to enjoy a coffee or evening fire. The design balances soft planting and open lawn with structured zones and a peaceful layout.
The design goals included:
A large lawn for family play and football
A secluded fire pit area beneath a multi-stem silver birch
Fragrant evergreen screening with Osmanthus burkwoodii
A secondary seating area for quiet relaxation
Airy, colourful planting to soften the boundaries and add seasonal interest
OB Garden Design approached this project with a focus on flexibility, texture, and colour. The layout guides movement around the garden while leaving space for energetic use. Planting includes soft grasses and perennials that sway and change throughout the seasons, bringing a relaxed and natural feel to this smart family home.
